There’s something causing health problems in a Buffalo, NY police station, but officials have determined that the substance is not asbestos.
According to this article, some people who worked at the D-District building have been diagnosed with a range of illness in the past five to 10 years. Some thought the substance was asbestos, but it has been determined that it is not.
In many cases, asbestos is found in buildings that were built before a certain period. The asbestos is not considered an immediate safety risk when it is in buildings if it is untouched, however it can immediately become dangerous if touched or moved around. Asbestos has been linked to numerous health issues including mesothelioma, a rare and often deadly form of cancer.
