AMO Sued Over Eye Infection

A San Diego man who suffers from vision loss is suing Advanced Medical Optics, saying that the company's Moisture Plus contact lens solution is to blame for his vision loss. On May 25, Complete Moisture Plus Multi-Purpose solution was recalled after federal regulators discovered that those using the product had an increased risk for a rare eye infection.

Michael Connolly, an engineering systems analyst, contracted acanthamoeba keratitis after using the product. Steve Chesterman, a spokesman for AMO, did not comment. Tom Moore, who is representing Connolly, says that AMO needs to provide compensation for those injured by their product: "What they simply need to do is clean up the mess and do right by consumers who are loyal to the brand."
