USG Corp. Will Pay $3.95 Billion in Asbestos Settlements
A recent New York Times article reports that gypsum manufacturer USG Corp. will emerge from bankruptcy - and fork over nearly $4 billion to settle asbestos lawsuits.
Over 75 businesses have been bankrupted due to asbestos litigation filed on behalf of workers who experienced lung cancer, mesothelioma, and other ailments due to the inhalable insulation material. USG plans to settle over 250,000 asbestos claims with the settlement payments.
