Voluntary Oyster Recall Announced
Oyster beds in San Antonio Bay, Texas remain closed as the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Maryland Department of Health continue inspections into an outbreak of food-borne illness from raw Texas oysters.
Though the outbreak of norovirus is claimed to be small, Bayview Seafood of Seadrift, Texas, and Rose Bay Oyster Company of Swanquarter, N.C. have issued voluntary recalls of their Texas oysters. The FDA is urging consumers who were sickened after eating Texas oysters to contact their local health department after seeking medical care.
