The EPA May Further Regulate Lead Paint Exposure
The LA Times reports that Environmental Protection Agency is considering passing regulations requiring more stringent health and safety measures to be taken by remodelers. The concern is mostly directed at suburban homes which did not receive the focus or funding of many lower income neighborhoods during the brunt of the government sponsored lead removal programs.

The EPA has proposed a regulation that would require training and certification of contractors and prescribe lead-safe work practices in pre-1978 houses inhabited by children under age 6.Lead dust is one of the few remaining aspects of lead poisoning that has yet to be approached by the EPA, and will address the fact that over 38 million homes in the U.S. still contain lead based paint.
